The 2027 budget: every brief
The preparation of the 2027 state budget, set out in the circular President Paul Biya signed on 12 October 2026. The circular requires at least 30 percent of the general budget to go to investment, bars new projects where the space has not been left for them, and puts payment orders from earlier financial years first in the queue. It lands against a record of slow execution: the Directorate General of the Budget reported that 26.2 percent of 2026 investment credits had been authorised for payment at the end of June.
