Pierre Bleriot Nyemeck, a media promoter, said ministerial appointments in Cameroon rarely result from chance or technical merit and instead form part of a wider strategy to hold power and balance forces, speaking on the Sunday programme Libre Expression on Info TV. The programme aired on 18 October 2026.

Nyemeck cited the appointment of Jean de Dieu Momo as an example of that approach. "On nomme Jean de Dieu Momo pour combattre Kamto," he said on the set, describing a reading he said many observers share. He did not give a full list of the nominations he discussed.

He described each presidential decree as carrying a strategic agenda, and placed nominations within what he called the internal geopolitics of Cameroon. He presented the reading as his own analysis of the appointments rather than as reporting from within the institutions that make them.

No member of the government or the presidency responded publicly to Nyemeck's remarks. Momo has not commented publicly on the claim.

Presidential decrees in Cameroon appoint and reassign ministers, heads of state companies and senior officials, and the presidency publishes them without stating the reasoning behind each appointment.
