The Caisse des depots et consignations du Cameroun (CDEC) will intensify recovery of funds held by financial institutions and other bodies from 2027, the institution said at a press lunch in Yaounde on 30 October 2026. The push is meant to raise the CDEC's stock of resources to 525 billion XAF by the end of 2028.

After several years of negotiations with the holders of the funds, the CDEC said it will strengthen controls and pursue court proceedings where amicable steps fail. The institution did not say which institutions and bodies are withholding funds or how much remains outstanding.

At the same press lunch, the CDEC said it had recovered all the bank guarantees tied to the Babadjou-Bamenda road rehabilitation contract awarded to BOFAS Sarl, a sum it put at 4.2 billion XAF. The recovery followed a dispute with Afriland First Bank, which issued the guarantees, and proceedings against establishments holding funds belonging to that bank. The CDEC did not say whether the 4.2 billion XAF counts toward the 525 billion XAF target.

The target sets the level the institution aims to reach by the end of 2028, the date against which its recovery effort will be measured.
