Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute left Yaounde for Antigua and Barbuda to represent President Paul Biya at the 28th summit of Commonwealth heads of government, the prime minister's office said in a statement dated 31 October 2026 and signed by Balungeli Confiance Ebune, the prime minister's director of cabinet.

The summit is scheduled to run from 1 to 4 November 2026 in St. John's, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda. The statement said Dion Ngute will lead Cameroon's delegation to the meeting of leaders of the organisation's member states.

The summit is organised around the theme "Accelerating partnerships and investments for a prosperous Commonwealth", the statement said. It said the meeting will focus on strengthening economic cooperation, developing trade and investment, and combating climate change.

The prime minister's office did not say why Biya is not attending in person, and it did not set out Cameroon's positions on the summit's agenda items. The statement also did not say whether Dion Ngute has bilateral meetings planned on the margins of the summit.

Cameroon is one of the Commonwealth's member states, and the summit is the organisation's highest-level regular meeting of government leaders.
