An indictment order attributed to the examining magistrate of the high court of the Momo department has circulated on social media since the start of the week of 5 October 2026, naming media owner Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga and Maxime Eko Eko, former director general of the General Delegation for External Research (DGRE), among 12 co-accused.

The document, as described in accounts circulating online, commits the accused to trial over the arrest and alleged torture and inhuman treatment of a Belgian citizen, Jan Joris Cappelle, during 2015 and 2016. The politologist Moussa Njoya discussed the document in a public intervention carried online, saying it concerns that case.

No judicial authority has confirmed the authenticity of the order, and the court department that issued it has not been officially identified. The charges the accused would face have not been set out in any official statement.

Amougou Belinga and Eko Eko have not responded publicly to the document. The Momo high court had issued no statement on the order by 12 October 2026.
