Moise Nguidjol, a cadre of the Social Democratic Front, said the party is ready to contest the legislative and municipal elections scheduled for 2027, in an interview broadcast on the programme Dash on 18 October 2026.
"We at the SDF are ready to go to the municipal and legislative elections," Nguidjol said. He called on the party's supporters to prepare so that the government and the president do not postpone the ballots, and said a postponement would be unjustified for a government that describes itself as democratic.
The SDF was led by Ni John Fru Ndi, who died in 2023. The party has since faced internal disputes over its leadership.
Cameroon's legislative and municipal elections are scheduled for 2027. The electoral commission, ELECAM, has not announced a confirmed calendar for the ballots.
Nguidjol did not say whether the party has selected candidates or set a nomination process, and he did not state whether he was speaking on behalf of the party's leadership.
