Joseph Emmanuel Ateba, a member of the Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (MRC), publicly criticised the accusations exchanged between the campaign teams of the two candidates for the party presidency, in a statement published on 14 October 2026.

"I refuse that people be allowed to make such grave accusations against members of their political family without the slightest proof," Ateba wrote. He said the accusations rested on "simple gossip, a few differences of opinion and suspicion".

The dispute involves the campaign of Tiriane Balbine Noah and that of Pierre Emmanuel Binyam. Pefoura Abdel Kabir, a statutory delegate to the convention and secretary of the MRC's Yaounde III departmental federation, accused Mamadou Mota, Tiriane Balbine Noah's campaign coordinator, of intimidation, of promising exclusion and of revenge after the election. Pefoura said the campaign Mota is running is not that of the MRC. Mota rejected the accusation.

The MRC convention is scheduled for 17 October 2026 at the party's Odza headquarters in Yaounde, to elect a president in place of Maurice Kamto, who resigned. Binyam withdrew from the race on 14 October 2026, citing irregularities.
