Lawyers for the Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun asked a court in Douala-Bonanjo on 14 October 2026 to order Salomon Beas to produce evidence for his public allegations that the party's leadership paid influencers to damage the reputation of Samuel Eto'o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
Augustin Nguefack, leading the MRC's legal team, made four requests to the court, which is hearing the case in a fast-track summary procedure. He asked that Beas produce proof that the MRC paid influencers to campaign against Eto'o, and that he name the influencers and the amounts they were paid. He also asked Beas to prove his membership of the party's directing body by producing the official decision that appointed him. The fourth request concerns Maurice Kamto's personal responsibility: Nguefack asked Beas to establish that the former MRC president knew of the alleged payments.
The MRC filed the case on 13 October 2026, following public statements by Beas and Henri Ulrich Ngoko Kamgang. The party says the statements damaged its image and asks the court to order production of the evidence or, failing that, the removal of the content it considers defamatory.
No ruling had been issued when the hearing ended on 14 October 2026.
