The French ambassador to Cameroon, Sylvain Riquier, made a working visit to the Port autonome de Douala on 21 October 2026, the port authority said, where he discussed investment opportunities and the planned extension of the Port of Douala-Bonaberi toward Manoka island.
Riquier and the port authority's director, Charles Michaux Moukoko Njoh, held a private meeting before co-chairing a working session at the port's headquarters, the port authority said. The session covered the port's transformation since 2016, its attractiveness and possible investments. A short film on the port's 2020-2050 development master plan was shown, and the extension toward Manoka drew particular attention from the ambassador, the port authority said.
"This first meeting is a privileged opportunity to get acquainted, to present the realities and ambitions of our port, and to open with you a dialogue we hope will be confident, open and constructive," Moukoko Njoh said in his welcome address.
The visit ended with a guided tour of the port's installations and construction sites. The port authority said it is planning expansion beyond the Bonaberi industrial zone, which handles 95 percent of national port traffic, with an outer port off Manoka island from 2030 and a target of 2050 for expanded capacity. The authority said it will need state support and has not disclosed the amount it expects.
