Canyon Resources has paid the Cameroonian government an advance of 11,116,304 Australian dollars, about CFA4.4 billion, to improve the railway that will carry bauxite from Minim-Martap in the Adamaoua region to the port of Douala. The payment appears in the company's consolidated accounts to 30 June 2026, published on 30 September.

The annual report records the sum on page 47 among long-term advances. No amount stood in that line a year earlier. Canyon expects to recover the money by offsetting it against the rail tariffs it will pay to use the network, so it prefinances the works and later deducts the spending from its transport bills.

The figure is close to the CFA4.5 billion Canyon's Cameroonian subsidiary Camalco set out for rehabilitating the existing railway in a feasibility study published in September 2025. That study also envisaged about CFA54 billion to raise the network's capacity, including new crossing loops and longer passing tracks.

On 6 October 2025, Camalco and Camrail, the network concessionaire, announced a first investment of USD 7 million to restore sections between Makor in the Adamaoua and Douala. In January 2026, the two companies announced an agreement setting the conditions for carrying the ore.

Canyon has also raised its stake in Camrail. Camalco bought an additional 17.8 percent of the concessionaire for CFA9.852 billion in the year to June 2026, lifting its holding from 9.1 percent to 26.9 percent.
