The Cameroonian collective "Ramenez nos fils et nos freres" announced on 22 October 2026 that it plans peaceful demonstrations in several cities to press Cameroonian and Russian authorities to end what it calls the clandestine recruitment of Cameroonians sent to fight in the Russian army in Ukraine.

The group's spokesperson, Paul Silver Yede, said the protests aim to obtain answers on the fate of compatriots, stop the recruitments and support families awaiting news. The collective said the dates, cities and practical arrangements will be communicated later, in line with legal procedures.

Russian authorities confirmed in April 2026 the deaths of 16 Cameroonian nationals described as contract soldiers. The collective cites figures published by the investigative group All Eyes On Wagner showing that 335 Cameroonians were recruited between 2023 and mid-2025, of whom 94 died.

The collective said its approach is strictly humanitarian, peaceful and non-partisan, and that it refuses any political use of the cause. It called on Cameroonian and Russian authorities to clarify recruitment conditions, identify the dead and missing, inform families and dismantle recruitment networks.

The announcement sets out a public campaign on a file that the collective says concerns the lives of Cameroonian citizens, with the timing of any demonstrations still to be fixed.
