Home Security Gendarmerie seizes 4,094 rounds of ammunition in Logone-et-Chari

The national gendarmerie seized 4,094 rounds of ammunition hidden in a bushy area at Kalakafra, in the Logone-et-Chari department of the Far North region, and reported dismantling a dormant cell at Kousseri, the department's main town on the border with Chad.

The force said the finds were made during the sixth phase of Operation Tentacules, which it launched in January 2026 and is running in Kousseri, Blangoua, Hilé-Alifa and Afadé. The gendarmerie said it also recovered homemade weapons and hundreds of bladed weapons.

Operation Tentacules is a recurring security operation in the Far North, a region where the army has for years fought armed groups that cross the borders with Chad, Nigeria and Niger. The sixth phase is the latest in that series.

The gendarmerie did not say whether anyone was arrested at Kalakafra or Kousseri, and gave no casualty figures. It did not name the group or individuals it says the cell belonged to, and it did not publish the full scope of the sixth phase beyond the four areas named.
